Six to be inducted in Immaculate Conception High School's Hall of Fame

- Inaugural G. Raymond Chang Award announced

Kingston, Jamaica - January 30, 2017 The biennial Immaculate Conception High School Hall of Fame Benefit Banquet will be held at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel on Saturday, March 25, under the patronage of Senator Don Wehby, Group Chief Executive Officer of GraceKennedy Limited.

The distinguished occasion will also see the introduction of the G. Raymond Chang Award of which Gary 'Butch' Hendrickson, CEO of National Continental Bakery, noted philanthropist and champion of early childhood education in Jamaica, will be the first recipient.

Continuing with the theme 'learn, lead, and lift, six outstanding alumnae will be inducted into the ICHS Hall of Fame, they are:

  • Mrs. Jeanne Meany, Class of 1943 for Volunteerism

  • Sr. Maureen Avril Chin Fatt, O.S.F., Class of 1958 for Religion Education and Volunteerism

  • Mrs. Carole Jean Sinclair, Class of 1961 for Volunteerism

  • Dr. I. Antoinette Sutherland, Class of 1962 for Medicine and Volunteerism

  • Justice Mrs. Norma Wade Miller, Class of 1964 for Law and Public Service

  • Ms. Karlene Largie, Class of 1967 for Education and Volunteerism

The Hall of Fame has grown since its inception in 2013 and helps raise well needed funds for the next generation of leaders being groomed by the distinguished 160 year old institution.

It's wonderful that the ICHS family can come together to honour alumnae who have made their school and country proud. This occasion also allows supporters to invest in the lives of capable students who need financial support, said Senator Wehby.

He further stated, I am thrilled to also introduce the new award which recognizes and pays tribute to G. Raymond Chang, a leading benefactor of ICHS. The Award recognizes outstanding business leaders and philanthropists who have contributed significantly to their communities and to Jamaica. It is fitting that the inaugural award should be presented to Butch, who is truly remarkable in his love for and service to Jamaica.

G. Raymond Chang was a successful Jamaican-Canadian entrepreneur and philanthropist who received both the Order of Jamaica and the Order of Canada. He passed away in 2014.

The ICHS Hall of Fame is chaired by Donette Chin-Loy Chang. Lead sponsor is GraceKennedy Limited.
